A Message from the club President
As President of the Hockessin-Greenville Rotary club for 2010-1011, I want to thank you for visiting our website. I invite you, as my guest, to attend one of our weekly breakfast meetings. This will give you a better understanding of our club and how we support both the local community and international projects. The club meets from 7:30am-8:30am on Tuesdays in the main dining room of Cokesbury Village.
There are approximately 33,000 rotary clubs worldwide with 1.2 million members. The clubs consist of business and professional leaders that volunteer their time and talent to serve their community and the world. The main objective of Rotary is "Service above Self", in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world. Rotary supports youth programs, educational opportunities, and international exchanges. Rotary International's theme for 2010-2011 is "Building Communities - Building Continents. Some of Rotary's most notable programs include disaster relief efforts, polio eradication and ambassadorial scholarships.
The Hockessin-Greenville club is comprised of a diverse group of 40 members. We choose projects and sponsor organizations that the membership feels will make a difference either in our local community or internationally. These projects or sponsorships are made possible from our major fundraising event - an annual 5K run/walk in the spring. Our largest community service project is coordinating and sponsoring the Hockessin July 4th festivities that include: morning neighborhood relay races, the afternoon parade, and the evening fire work display. These events have become family traditions for many generations that we hope to continue and support for many years to come.
For more information in supporting our efforts or if you are interested in becoming a Rotarian, please contact us. I hope you will consider visiting us for one of our meetings!
Best Regards,
Terri White
President, Hockessin-Greenville Rotary Club
